Scarlet dumps all its news groups
Scarlet removes from 1 June all its news groups. According to the business is the cost price too high in comparison with the small group that of it yet use makes.
Because there was to be found too much illegal alien material on, got Scarlet two weeks back a number news groups offline. From 1 July, the provider removes also all other news groups.
Specifically it goes about News. scarlet. be, that according to TAP vzw from June disappears. The entry till other news groups via the NNTP-protocol is not blocked, but disappear the news groups of the provider self. Also the text only-News groups go offline.
The earlier removals of news groups was an appointment between music producers association IFPI and the association of internetproviders ISPA, but this has to make nothing with the total removal.
“The cost price of that news groups lies too high in comparison with the number of users”, says Gert Mail, general manager of Scarlet. “Less then a half per cent of our customers uses she yet, about that appears the us better this service to stop.”
Marcel Vander Fretted, regrets chairman of TAP, the stopper arrangement: “We asked to let the text only-news groups at Scarlet at least exist. The helpdesk of Scarlet has not been fixed a large help and in that news groups, we wanted to foresee yet a last alternative for this.”
