Pc-market grows good despite robust tegenwind
Despite the BAITERS-epidemic, the war in Iraq and the economic uncertainty is the pc-market in the past second quarter faster gegroeid then expect. That appeared from the reports of market investigation desks Gartner and IDC.
In April till and with June 2003 ascended the number reshipped desktops, notebooks and servers with ten per cent in comparison with the same three months in 2002. About that, according to Gartner. The competing market investigation desk IDC calculated the increase on 7.6 per cent.
In both cases was this increase more large than expects. Gartner had played an increase of 6.4 per cent, IDC held it by 4.1 per cent profit. The businesses count the same products, but different methods handle and sources.
In total became according to IDC 33.2 million desktops, notebooks and servers produced in the quarter. Dell defended its position as of the worldly largest pc-manufacturer through approximately a half million more products to reship then number two HP, calculated Gartner and IDC.
World-wide the world-wide number reshipped Dell-systems grew with 28.9 per cent, good for a market share of 17.8 per cent according to IDC. HP sent out 13.3 per cent more products the door, what resulted in a share of 16.2 per cent in the world-wide market.
In the EMEA (Europe, the Middle-East and Africa) -region is HP according to Gartner by far the strongest. The manufacturer had a market share of 19.5 per cent in this region. Dell has a share of 11.3 per cent in this region.
According to Gartner especially concise customers were ready more money from to give in the second quarter. “The introduction of new mobile product line and the drop of the dollar-exchange rate make the attractive existing contracts before off to write”, declares the market investigation desk in its report. The consumers market do not follows the concise trend however, according to Gartner. That would go with name to cost from the smaller pc-manufacturers.
